WKNC named Pinnacle award finalist

WKNC 88.1 FM was named a finalist for best radio newscast in College Media Association’s Pinnacle awards. Now in its second year, the Pinnacle awards recognize 54 finalists across 18 categories of college student-produced television, radio and online media. According to Jim Hayes, electronic media adviser at Vanderbilt University and CMA’s technology and broadcast director, 62 schools entered at least one category in the contest.

The March 14, 2013 “88.1 Seconds of Technician” newscast, produced by spring 2013 graduate Mike Miller, is one of the three finalists for best radio newscast. The other finalists are KZLX at Northwest Missouri State University and KTSW at Texas State University-San Marcos. Winners will be announced at the National College Media Convention in New Orleans in October.
