Agromeck earns CSPA Gold Crown for 2015 edition

The Columbia Scholastic Press Association announced its top awards for collegiate publications at the 2016 College Media Convention in New York City, March 13, and NC State’s 2015 edition of the yearbook, Agromeck, was awarded one of three Collegiate Yearbook Gold Crowns, the highest yearbook award given by CSPA.

Other Collegiate Gold Crown recipients were the Ibis, University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida, and The Tower, Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, California. A Silver Crown Award went to The Roundup, Baylor University, Waco, Texas.

During Crown consideration, publications are judged on their excellence as shown by their design, photography, concept, coverage and writing, and the Crown Awards summarize overall excellence in the entire publication.

Owned and operated by Columbia University since 1925, the CSPA is an international student press association uniting student journalists and faculty advisers at schools and colleges through educational conferences, idea exchanges and award programs.

The judging panel included: Kathy Daly, retired adviser, Denver, CO; Beth Fitts, retired adviser, Oxford, MS; Nancy Hastings, retired adviser, Highland, IN; Monica Hill, director of NCSMA, Chapel Hill, NC; Alan Murray, president and co-founder of Uncharted, Malvern, PA; Mark Murray, director of technical services and systems integration, Arlington Independent School District, Arlington, TX; Cheryl Pell retired journalism professor, East Lansing, MI; Randy Yeip, graphics editor, New York, NY; Kathleen Zwiebel, retired adviser, Pottsville, PA.

Elizabeth Moomey served as editor-in-chief of the 2015 edition. Since 2005, Agromeck has received six Gold Crown Awards and three Silver Crown Awards.
