WKNC 88.1 FM announces a new public affairs program showcasing the activities and accomplishments of students, faculty and staff at North Carolina State University. “State of State” made its debut Oct. 27 and will air Mondays from 7-8 p.m.

Megan Carroll, a senior in communication media and Spanish and the station’s public affairs director, is the show’s creator, host and executive producer. Carroll joined the staff earlier this month after completing WKNC’s DJ training program in September

Carroll, on the air as “M.C.”, wanted a way to acknowledge those who make exceptional contributions to the N.C. State community.

The show’s first episode focused on the N.C. State Women’s Center and featured interviews with center director Shannon Johnson, assistant director Laci Weeden, and Juliette Grimmett, the center’s rape prevention education coordinator. Carroll also interviewed Curtis Gray and Emily Plonski about their involvement in The Movement, a student group working to prevent sexual and relationship violence. Gray is also a member of Men Against Rape.

WKNC also airs the talk show “Evening Exchange” Wednesdays at 7 p.m. WKNC and the Technician student newspaper podcast the daily newscast “88.1 Seconds of Technician.”
