“Double Barrel has always been a platform for WKNC to showcase its favorite artists while pairing them with new and exciting rising acts,” John Kovalchik, WKNC’s general manager, said. “But most importantly, the event brings together artists and community members for the sake of gathering essential support for the station without relying on phone drives.”

WKNC is keeping the first night in its hometown of Raleigh at the Lincoln Theatre. Keeping with the format of last year’s Double Barrel Benefit, the second night will be held the following weekend  across the Triangle at Cat’s Cradle. The station’s signal is 25,000 watts, which puts the entire Triangle in its broadcast range.

Since Double Barrel Benefit’s humble beginnings in 2004, the annual two-night concert event has presented numerous incredible regional acts, including The Mountain Goats, Future Islands, and Megafaun.  In addition to promoting great emerging musicians, the event has since become essential to WKNC-FM’s success in the Triangle and beyond.

“We are beyond ecstatic to have such great local and regional bands like Spider Bags and Eternal Summers play for our Double Barrel Benefit concert this year,” Clint Bowman, local music director, said.  “It is through their willingness to play that we can continue to be an active presence in the music scene of today.”

Tickets are on sale now at http://wknc.org/dbb12. Prices are $12 in advance and $15 the day of the show. Two-night passes are available for $22. All proceeds benefit WKNC. The event is all ages. Doors for each show open at 8 p.m. with music at 9 p.m.
