Student Media is now accepting applications for a full-time Business and Marketing Manager. This SPA position is responsible for the maximization of revenues from advertising sales, merchandise sales and service fees totaling nearly $400,000 per year, an amount that accounts for about half of Student Media’s annual operating budget. The business and marketing manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all training of student marketing representatives (i.e., serving as the primary adviser to Student Media’s student Business Office staff), working directly with major advertising and marketing clients (i.e., $10,000 per year or more), and overseeing the associated accounts receivables.
According to the job posting, the successful candidate should have:
- Experience working in a business/sales office environment.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principle is necessary, including posting payments and reconciling monthly reports.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and be able to adapt to a high level of turnover among student workers, as well as have an awareness of the unique nature of working in a student environment.
Prior experience in sales and marketing in a higher education environment, specifically media sales, is strongly preferred. Advanced knowledge of various graphic design, spreadsheet, presentation and word processing software packages is essential, as is proficiency working on both PC- and Mac-based operating systems.
