Student Media sets Assessment Goals for 2015-2016

As part of its annual assessment efforts, Student Media has selected two departmental objectives to measure for 2015-2016. The first objective – Student Media staff will be knowledgeable of current journalism, broadcasting and marketing practices in print, audio, video and online – is measured annually based on a rotating set of criteria. This year’s outcome for Student Media advertising staff members to know the Student Media advertising sales process will be measured based on the staff’s participation in a yearlong “Sales Olympics” contest to measure productivity and growth in eight areas. Student Media’s advertising goal for 2015-2016 is $252,366, which represents a quarter of the department’s total revenue.

Student’s Media second objective – Student Media will actively recruit incoming students and work to retain those students throughout their time at N.C. State – will focus on the outcome of increased participation from students with two, three, and four years of experience with Student Media. While the department regularly tracks first-year participation, this will be Student Media’s first examination of students with multiple years of experience.
