N.C. State hosts SUN summer managers meeting

N.C. State Student Media hosted the Southern University Newspapers (SUN) summer managers meeting June 5-7.  Newspaper advisers and advertising/business managers from schools across the southern U.S. came to the NCSU campus to discuss creating new revenue streams, using content management systems, and mobile app development. NCSU will also host the fall conference for students and professional staff Sept. 23-24.

State Student Media hosted the Southern University Newspapers (SUN) summer managers meeting June 5-7.  Newspaper advisers and advertising/business managers from schools across the southern U.S. came to the NCSU campus to discuss creating new revenue streams, using content management systems, and mobile app development. Claudia Kimbrough, lecturer in the Poole College of Management, spoke to the group about using social media applications such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Advisers and advertising/business managers from NCSU, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, UNC-Charlotte, UNC-Wilmington, North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, East Carolina University, Duke University, Auburn University, University of Alabama, Louisiana State University, University of South Carolina, University of Tennessee-Knoxville and Virginia Tech were in attendance.

NCSU will also host the fall conference for students and professional staff Sept. 23-24. Krystal Baker, Student Media’s business and marketing coordinator and SUN vice president, organized the meeting. Baker was elected SUN president at their business meeting June 7.
